Myleene Klass has spoken out against her treatment at the hands of the NHS after she had her daughter Ava.
Myleene gave birth at the private ‘Lindo’ wing of St Mary’s hospital in Paddington, but then went back onto the NHS list as she wanted to be treated as normally as possible.
“When I got home we were back into the normal NHS system. But for six days after Ava was born no one came to see us, not one midwife,” Myleene told The Sun. “She was three weeks premature and had jaundice and an eye infection and we rang for a midwife every day.
“I didn’t want to sound like a panicking first-time mum, but even Gray was ringing - we just got lost in the system. A woman would ring back and say ‘We’re too busy, someone will come tomorrow’, and this kept on happening.”
She continued: “I felt so low, like I’d been abandoned. They’re supposed to check on mum and baby. I felt outraged. I’m not knocking the NHS, my mum was a nurse. I know they get just as frustrated.
“But what made me sad was that as soon as the Lindo called up on behalf of Myleene Klass I had two midwives on my doorstep immediately. What about all the other Angela Quinns out there?”
