N Dubz star in BBC Three’s ‘Fazer’s Urban Takeover’
Episode 1, Monday 16th September, 9pm, BBC Three
A brand new two part documentary series following Fazer from N-Dubz, as he attempts to put seven unknown urban musicians through a crash course in classical music before performing with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the world famous BBC Proms.
In the first episode, Fazer goes to a hip hop night with a classical quartet to gauge how big the gap between classical and urban music really is, and sets out to recruit his young band, all of who have one thing in common – they think classical music is boring and for old posh people. As the group gets to work writing their track for the Urban Classic Prom alongside classical musicians from the orchestra, Fazer takes them to the Royal Albert Hall and the young musicians quickly realise the scale of the task at hand!
Episode 2, Monday 23rd September, 9pm, BBC Three
In a bid to convert the group to classical music, Fazer takes his young musical recruits, now known as the Seven Chapters to a full on classical prom, Beethoven’s 5th Symphony no less.
In preparation for their performance at the Royal Albert Hall the Chapters take on classical master classes with some new mentors with gospel singer Shevelle learning a section of Ave Maria. The group also hang out with the Thames Youth Orchestra to see how they roll and how much they can learn on a musical instrument in a day.
With the concert of a life-time looming close, emotions run high as the Seven Chapters undertake their final rehearsals with the full 85-piece BBC Symphony Orchestra. As the big night arrives, nerves and excitement abound as the young performers take the stage to follow performances by Wretch 32, Laura Mvulu, Lady Leshurr, Maverick Sabre, Jacob Banks and their mentor Fazer.
