Neil Patrick Harris hosting 2015 Oscars! 5 of his best hosting moments!

Neil Patrick Harris will be your 2015 Oscars host!

According to Variety, the ‘How I Met Your Mother’ actor will be hosting the 85th edition of one of the world’s most prestigious awards shows on 22nd February 2015.

Though he has performed on the show before, this will be the father of twins first time hosting the Academy Awards. However, he’s most definitely got some experience when it comes to award show hosting.

The former ‘Glee’ guest star hosted the Tony awards in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013, and the Primetime Emmys Awards (of which he has five). So, after February 22nd, all that’s left is the Grammys, right?

According to reports, daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, who hosted the show this year, was also being considered for hosting duties, but according to Variety, “was reluctant” to repeat her success again next year. DeGeneres brought in some of the best numbers for the show in its history, attracting 45.4 million viewers back in March.

But the real question is, will Harris be able to beat DeGeneres’ now legendary selfie?

If his gig as Tony Awards host is anything to go by, we think he could just rival DeGeneres in the award shot host department.

Back in 2013, Harris opened the show with a pretty epic (and ‘Glee’ inspired?) opening medley which featured Cheerleading stunts, a guitar serenade and even a cameo from Mike Tyson cameo!

That same year, NPH got some cute facetime with a furry friend (aww!)

In 2012, always one to make an entrance, the actor took a leaf out of Spiderman’s book and entered the big show upside down! Imagine this at the Oscars…

Who could forget his hilarious opening monologue from the 2012 Emmy Awards? NPH brought down the house with familiar faces including Kevin Spacey and Jimmy Fallon;

Even when he’s not hosting, the actor always seems to steal the spotlight at awards shows. When pal Kaley Cuoco took on hosting duties for the People’s Choice Awards, all eyes were still on NPH;

Harris confirmed his hosting duties for the Oscars with a short Moby video, which showed him crossing of “host the Oscars” from his bucket list.

The 87th Oscars will air live on ABC on February 22nd 2015.
