New Corrie schedule for next week, and Nigel Havers talks scheming Lewis Archer

by Lynn Connolly

As you may know, ITV have shifted next week’s schedules around a tad, which means that there won’t be an episode of Corrie on Thursday.

However, fear not for there will be an extra episode shown on Sunday, February 19th.

Here’s the re-jigged line-up…

Monday 13th Feb: 7.30pm & 8.30pm
Friday 17th Feb: 7.30pm & 8.30pm
Sunday 19th Feb: 8pm

As of Monday 20th February, Corrie then returns to its normal pattern of Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

In the Sunday edition, we’ll get to hear more about what dastardly cad Lewis Archer has been doing – or perhaps more aptly, ‘who’ he’s been doing – since he did a runner from the Street last year, leaving poor Audrey brokenhearted…

Lewis will make his comeback to Weatherfield – or is it Salford? – later this week when he bumps into Audrey (Sue Nicholls) and Gail (Helen Worth) in a country pub.

However, while speaking to ITV about reprising the role of Lewis, Nigel Havers, who of course plays the charming male escort, says he doesn’t know if Audrey can find it in her heart to forgive Lewis for hurting her so badly.

And of course, when he comes back to Coronation Street, he’s seeking forgiveness all round, and to that end, he has to front up to Deirdre Barlow (Anne Kirkbride) who he tricked into believing he fancied her so he could nick money from the betting shop.

During the interview, Nigel also revealed that he felt honoured to have been asked to come back to the show.

But first, he explained, “Lewis does a runner after first meeting Audrey, because he’s so scared of what’s going to happen.

“And then, he thinks to himself, ‘Hang on – I better pull myself together’.

“He turns up in Coronation Street and, quite courageously, says, ‘Bring it on. Come on, go for me’. Which they do!

“He says that it was implanted in his DNA to behave like that, he’s thought long and hard about his behaviour, he’s now a changed man.

“He’s come back to get his just desserts and he’s going to be a different human being from now on.

“Audrey may or may not believe Lewis’s new side. We have to wait and see. Even I don’t know!

“[And] he has Deirdre to see – I’m not looking forward to that. Lewis is heading for a very rocky comeback. Watch this space.”

But of his return to the cast, Nigel said, “It feels wonderful to be back in Coronation Street.

“I had such a good time last time – a year and a half ago, I was last here. What an honour to be asked back.”

Don’t miss Lewis’s return scenes on Friday, February 17 at 8.30pm.
