New drama, Utopia on Channel 4 tonight, boasts murder, mystery and corruption!
Tonight sees the start of a brand new dark and mysterious thriller on Channel 4, Utopia.
Utopia tells the story of five strangers pulled together online by a graphic cult novel.
Finding themselves in real danger and being sought after by a dangerous organisation called The Network, the comic forum decide to meet when they find the manuscript of the novel, The Utopia Experiments, in their possession.
However, when three of the forum, – Ian (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) an I.T. dropout, Becky (Alexandra Roach) a student and Wilson (Adeel Akhtar) a conspiracy theorist, meet in a pub a fourth member is confronted and killed by two of the organisations soldiers.
The only witness to the murder is the fifth member of the forum, 11-year-old Grant (Oliver Woollford), who flees with the manuscript, with The Network firmly on his trail.
Ian and Becky soon find they’ve been set-up for crimes they haven’t committed, whilst Wilson’s hacking skills attract the attention of Network henchmen Arby (Neil Maskill) and Lee (Paul Ready).
The trio soon find their worlds falling apart around them, and they aren’t the only ones. Civil servant Michael Dugdale (Paul Higgins) finds himself being blackmailed by The Network over an affair he had with a prostitute.
Things are looking pretty bleak for Ian, Becky and Wilson, but when they come face to face with an enigmatic stranger who claims to be able to help them, could their luck be about to change?
Find out in the first episode of Utopia, tonight at 10pm on Channel 4/ Channel 4 HD.
