New Emmerdale character Megan Macey will cause a stir in the Dales!

ITV recently announced that former Corrie star Gaynor Faye – who played Judy Mallett in the Manchester based soap in the ‘90s– is joining the cast of Emmerdale, and according to the show’s executive producer, Stuart Blackburn, she’s not going to take any prisoners!

Gaynor, who’s the daughter of writer and TV producer Kay Mellor, will join Emmerdale as Megan Macey, the sister of Declan Macey, who is of course played by Jason Merrells.

And in fact, this will be the second time Gaynor and Jason have worked together, since both appeared in comedy drama Fat Friends. You can see a clip of them in action after the jump.

We won’t see Gaynor on-screen as Megan until early in 2012, but Stuart Blackburn is keen to let us know that she’s going to “really shake things up” when she does arrive…

He told Inside Soap, “She’s an incredibly strong and confident woman who won’t allow herself to be used by men – or anyone.

“Megan is very competitive as well, and will really keep Declan on his toes.

“She’ll have the likes of Charity and Chas rolling around with laughter, but then half an hour later, she’ll shaft them!”

Blackburn added, “And she’ll do it with a smile on her face, saying, ‘It’s only business, love!’”

He went on to tease that Megan may find a love interest in village Romeo Carl King (Tom Lister), despite the fact that the villagers will warn her off him.

Blackburn said, “When it comes to commitment to a fella, Megan would normally run a mile…

“But when lots of people in the village tell her not to go anywhere near Carl, it’s like a red rag to a bull!”

Here’s a clip of Gaynor as Judy Mallett from Christmas 1998 when she gave birth to twins…

And this one features both Gaynor and Jason Merrells in Fat Friends…
