The new Star Trek film – due for general release early next year – now has its very own website where you can watch a high quality trailer for the film. It’s a wee bit slow to load but well worth the wait!

Lost and Fringe creator JJ Abrams hopes that the 11th Star Trek movie will attract a whole new generation of fans and he’s spent £75 million on the movie and merchandising to ensure that it does just that.

Due out in May 2009, the movie’s set in the early days of the USS Enterprise and depicts a new young crew going boldly where several men have gone before but in a whole new way.

James T. Kirk, is played by Chris Pine and we’ll see the famous Captain as a fresh-faced space cadet. He’s joined by a young Scotty, played by Simon Pegg, and the role of Spock is played by Zach Quinto, complete with giant eyebrows.

Completing the major cast list is Pavel Chekov, Leonard McCoy, Hikaru Sulu, and Nyota Uhura.
