As Sophie Webster brings Christianity back to Coronation Street, show bosses have brought her in some back up in the form of a trendy new vicar.

Rev Peach (Nick Caldecott) will first appear on our screens on April the 12th when he offers to bless pets at the Easter Sunday ceremony.

Blanche Hunt obviously has something to say about the idea and her mood isn’t helped when she steps in dog dirt outside the church. She blasts: “Just look at me new Scholls. It’s more like Rolf Harris’s Animal Hospital in here. You’ll do anything to get people through them doors with your daft new-fangled ideas. Call yourself a vicar… you’re a disgrace.”

A Corrie insider confirmed that bosses are planning major storylines for Reverend Rick and told The Sun: “We’ve decided to go back to basics and to the days when the local vicar was very much a part of daily life.

“But viewers may find there’s a darker side to Rev Rick.”
