On Tuesday 30th it’s a one hour episode which sees Victoria still angry with Diane for calling the psychiatrist but Daz manages to coax her outside when she locks herself away. Daz reaffirms his belief in Victoria’s story about the body in the lake and they head off to investigate.

Daz pokes around the water with a stick and makes a joke of it, upsetting Victoria in the process. However, as they turn to leave, Daz hears the unmistakable sound of disturbed water and whirls round. The youngsters are horrified to see a body rise to the surface. Victoria’s in pieces as she’s taken back to the village and interviewed by police officers.

Meanwhile, Eli’s alarmed to find Jasmine hanging around by the lake and when she demands they move Shane’s body, Eli can’t believe she’s serious. Trying to calm her down, Eli swishes around in the lake with a stick, proving that Shane’s corpse remains in its watery grave. They leave, but when Jasmine turns up for her shift at the Woolpack, Daz immediately relays the news about the body being discovered.

Later, Eli and Debbie try to keep a near-hysterical Jasmine calm when Donna arrives to break the news that the body has been identified as Shane. Will Jasmine crack under the pressure now her secret is under police scrutiny?

Also, Lily’s suspicious when she spots Leyla coming out of the factory on a day off. Lily forces Leyla into having a cup of tea in the factory and notices a rather large pile of work at Leyla’s desk. They begin to get on well until Leyla tries to leave, snatching the work from Lily’s hands. Though Leyla lies that she’s doing overtime for Pollard, Lily sees through her and demands the truth.

Leyla admits to Lily that she is making a little money on the side by selling curtains direct to a contact. Impressed with her ingenuity, Lily starts back at work and makes it clear she’s keen to be involved in her enterprise. Can the wily pair avoid Pollard’s miserly attentions?

On Wednesday 31st Marlon presents Donna with an eternity ring for her birthday but her mind is still on Ross. The police discover that Shane was struck over the head several times before and after death but there’s very little DNA evidence due to the length of time the body was in the water.

Donna’s called to the station to make a statement and the line of questioning soon turns to Ross and whether her partner was aware of the situation with the MacFarlanes. Donna dismisses it and is allowed to leave.

Back at home, Marlon and Donna celebrate her birthday but Donna’s stopped in her tracks when Marlon asks her whether Ross will return to make a statement. Will the murder investigation lead to a lovers reunion?

Elsewhere, Jasmine’s going mad with worry that a clue will emerge that leads the police to discover her involvement in Shane’s death. When the police summon her to the station, she’s grateful to be accompanied by Laurel and Ashley.

Under questioning, Jasmine’s shaky but the investigating officer put the nerves down to her close relationship with Shane. She becomes more emotional and blurts out that Shane’s dead because of her. Again, her comments are misinterpreted by the officer and Jasmine gets away with having come so close to confessing the truth.

Debbie’s pleased to hear that Jasmine stuck to their story and is confident that the heat is now on the MacFarlanes. What will 2009 bring for Jasmine and Debbie?

At the Woolpack, it seems as though there’ll be little uptake for the New Year celebrations. In order to spark some enthusiasm, Val spreads the word that they’re holding a toga party. When some of the villagers moan that they can’t afford the white linen costumes that Val’s demanded for the party, Sam comes up with an idea. He steals a bag full of bed sheets from the B&B.

As the party gets going, Val turns up in an elaborate costume, dragging an embarrassed Pollard behind her, while Paddy arrives in his sports gear, having misheard Marlon and thought it was a yoga party. Jamie spots the Dingles wearing his bed linen and privately plots his revenge. Will the Dingles get their comeuppance?

On Thursday 1st Donna worries about Ross when a colleague mentions that his transfer has prompted rumours that he was also involved with the MacFarlanes. When word gets out that Ross and Shane had a fight on the last day he was seen alive, Paddy urges Donna to tell Marlon the truth before it all comes out. She’s furious when Paddy’s wonders if Ross had anything to do with Shane’s death.

Desperate for another solution to her dilemma, Donna wonders whether she can ask her colleagues to cover her and Ross’s affair up. As she and Paddy argue, an oblivious Marlon enters and Donna tells her shell-shocked husband that she had an affair with Ross. Marlon rails at her for telling him then, in meltdown, leaves. Is their marriage over?

Meanwhile, Val confronts Victoria about her New Year and the youngster confesses she was at a party. Val’s satisfied when told that nothing happened between Victoria and Daz. Later, Victoria and Daz overhear Scarlett questioning Victoria’s state of mind and he comforts her with a hug.

When Daz gets rid of Scarlett in order to spend time with her, Victoria’s delighted. However, after the pair spend the afternoon at the January sales, Val’s uncomfortable at Daz and Victoria’s growing closeness. Are her worries justified?

Elsewhere, Lily finds out that Leyla’s sleeping in the factory. She also admits that the moonlighting story was a lie. Feeling for her friend, Lily offers Leyla a room at Edna’s, much to the annoyance of her sister.

Lily and Edna fall out after an argument about the new living arrangements, so Lily moves back in with Pearl, taking Leyla along with her. Can Leyla build a new life in the village?

Friday 2nd sees Paddy visit a broken Marlon who says that he’d had suspicions about the affair for months. Despite Marlon’s reservations, Paddy urges him to speak with Donna. Donna tells all to Marlon but she accidentally lets slip that she was in love with Ross.

As Marlon takes this news in, Donna also reveals that Shane knew about the affair and that prompted the altercation between him and Ross.

Distraught, Marlon tells the police that Ross was having an affair with his wife and that Shane knew about it and was blackmailing them. He goes on to assert that this could be a motive for Ross to kill Shane.

Also, Carl’s frustrated when Jimmy fails to show enthusiasm for a meeting to resurrect their business. After the bank refuse to lend Carl any money, he warns Jimmy that they need to pull themselves together if they’re to salvage any sort of reputation.

With the problems mounting up, Lexi advises Carl to arrange Matthew’s burial in order to give Jimmy some closure. Carl tells Jimmy that the sooner Matthew’s buried the better. Will Anna return in time for the funeral?

Meanwhile, Victoria helps Daz out at the factory, leaving Scarlett feeling sidelined.

After being forced to share lunch with Victoria, Scarlett prepares for a cosy night with Daz watching a DVD only for Victoria to interrupt once more. She happily plays gooseberry while Scarlett grows more and more frustrated.

When Daz heads to the Woolpack to get some supplies, Val warns him that if she spots even a hint of Victoria falling for him she will go straight to Diane. Can Daz and Victoria confine their feelings to that of a sibling relationship?
