Here at Unreality TV (as well as many of you out there) were sad to learn that season three of Aaron Sorkin’s HBO show ‘The Newsroom’ would be its last.

For whatever reason the popular show fronted by Jeff Daniels who plays lead anchor Will McAvoy will have six more episodes and then the story will be over…

We got the opportunity to watch the first three episodes ahead of the official airing tomorrow night (November 9th // 12th November in the UK) and we thought we’d preview the first episode ahead of time.

Titles for the final episodes have already been released and episode one is known as ‘Boston’ which clearly means the ACN team will be covering the tragedy which occurred at the finish line of the Boston marathon in 2013.

Following on from season two, which focused on the Genoa controversy which left the network in deep trouble the team make it their mission to cover the Boston story as best as they can.

They seem cautious, they don’t want to rely on any one source until they’re sure it’s concrete and they certainly don’t want to be relying on tweets which as we know in 2014 play a major part in the news these days.

The cast is all familiar as expected with Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels) at the helm with his fiancé Mackenzie (Emily Mortimer) right by his side – with ACN President Charlie (Sam Waterston) not far away from the action.

Neal (Dev Patel), Sloan (Olivia Munn), Maggie (Alison Pill), Jim (John Gallagher, Jr.) and Don (Thomas Sadoski) also make appearances as they attempt to tell the story without error.

Elsewhere in The Newsroom, as we’ve already seen in a preview released by HBO it’s all go for Neal (Dev Patel) who is approached by an anonymous source who hands over government documents.

Clearly still affected by the Genoa controversy, the network aren’t sure whether to run with the story, which itself is potentially huge, or run as far away from it as possible and it’s not long before tempers flare.

The story is fast moving though and it’s clear that we’re on the final episodes and it’s a sad thought, we always thought the show would run longer than three seasons and especially with a final season longer than just six episodes.

The final episodes of ‘The Newsroom’ begin tomorrow night on HBO at 9pm EST (November 9th) and on Sky Atlantic in the UK on Wednesday the 12th of November at 10pm. Check out a trailer below.
