Nina Dobrev has opened up about relationships following her split with on-off boyfriend, Ian Somerhalder in May.
Dobrev covers the September issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine, in which she spoke about relationships and her new friendship with Julianne Hough.
Hough, who broke up with the busiest man in Hollywood, Ryan Seacrest earlier this year is now seemingly BFF’s with Dobrev.
Speaking about her relationship with Hough, Dobrev said: “It’s been cool to find an active buddy – there are lots of girlie girls around. We don’t talk about make-up; we talk about life.”
Addressing rumours that the pair are only friends due to them both having breakups recently, the Vampire Diaries star said: “[Both having experienced recent breakups is] not what our friendship is about. Unfortunately, that’s how it’s perceived, but there’s more to us. People aren’t defined by their relationships.
“The whole point is being true to yourself and not losing yourself in relationships, whether romances or friendships”.
Dobrev then got down to the nitty gritty about what factors and qualities attract her to a man… take note fellas!
“You either have chemistry or you don’t, but a lot of what attracts me is a guy’s mind and humour and talent,” she explained “I need to get to know all those things before I fall for someone. I’m not a one-night-stand kind of girl. I’m a relationship girl”.
She went on to say that she is “old-fashioned” when it comes to relationships and morals.
Dobrev explained: “I like it when guys hold the door open and are sweet and thoughtful. The guys on our show are really good at that. A man in a suit looking put together and dapper is very attractive, but I also like the I-just-rolled-out-of-bed, a-little-bit-of-scruff, effortless, not-trying-hard-but-still-sexy-guy.
“If a guy spends more time looking in the mirror than I do, that’s a problem”.
The Vampire Diaries returns to The CW on October 3 at 8/7c and also serves as the lead-in to new spinoff show, The Original which kicks off at 9/8c.
