Kasabian closed Glastonbury festival for 2014

NME have confirmed the list of nominations for their annual awards ceremony which will take place on the 18th of February at the 02 Academy Brixton.

British rockers Kasabian are leading the nominations for the ceremony while Royal Blood and Jamie T aren’t far behind with seven nominations each.

Kasabian have been nominated for Best British Band, Best album, Best live band, Best track, Best music film, Music moment of the year and Best fan community.

Speaking about their nominations the band said: “2014 has been such an incredible year for us, and being nominated for eight NME Awards is a better Christmas present than getting Castle Greyskull in 1986! Thanks very much.”

The category for Best album features a host of big contenders including Kasabian, Jamie T, Royal Blood, La Roux, Run The Jewels and St Vincent – and it could be anyone’s award!

Meanwhile, nominated in the category for the worst band award are One Direction, U2, Bastille, Blink-182, The 1975 and Australian rockers 5 Seconds of Summer.

Nominated in the category for villain of the year are Nigel Farage, David Cameron, Harry Styles, Russell Brand, Bono and Taylor Swift.
