NOEL EDMONDS TO FIX ‘BROKEN BRITAIN’ IN NOEL’S HQ

Richard Woolfe, Director of Programming, Sky One, Two and Three today (Wednesday 2 July, 2008) announced a brand new live entertainment special Noel’s HQ (working title) from TwoFour for broadcast in the autumn on Sky One and Sky One HD. The special was commissioned by Donna Taberer, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment, Sky One, Two and Three.

Noel’s HQ combines feel-good and doing good. Every day random acts of kindness are few and far between. What did you do for someone else today? A spontaneous act of generosity on your behalf, perhaps? We aim to prove to everyone that a sense of community and generosity is not dead. For the first time ever on British television, members of the public across the UK will be rewarded in life changing ways for the acts of generosity they perform. The stories featured on the programme will be rewarded at NHQ with gifts of real significance – gifts that will impact on entire communities, create lasting change and genuinely influence the direction of people’s lives forever.

Noel Edmonds commented: “Noel’s HQ is potentially the most significant show I have ever presented in over 40 years in television and radio because we will entertain but also inspire. This show is TV’s response to what many see as ‘Broken Britain.’ We are empowering the viewer to make a difference, not by giving money but by giving of themselves. Our future is in our hands and we must stop looking to politicians to fix maters – they can’t. It’s up to all of us to cease living such selfish lives and make British society great again. If you are not part of the solution, you are the problem.”

Richard Woolfe commented: “In order for this show to succeed and resonate with the masses, it requires someone who can empathise with and inspire the nation, someone who is passionate about their work and someone who genuinely believes in better. Noel Edmonds is without a doubt that person. He’s an incredibly generous individual and I’m thrilled that he’s agreed to be our host. Together we aim to expose the great and the good of everyday Britain, and reward them in ways they have only dreamed about. Rewards that will have a life long after the credits have rolled.”

Noel will do what he does best in the big studio set up; he’ll tell heart-warming stories, he’ll name and shame the greedy and ungenerous and he’ll surprise and amuse in hidden camera stunts. The ninety-minute special, scheduled to air in September 2008, will do more than entertain; it will move and inspire a nation to make a difference. From national campaigns where every viewer can join in – just think what we could achieve if we all collected our unwanted foreign coins at the end of a holiday – to lighter stories and topical campaigning, Noel’s HQ (working title) will reward the good and payback the mean and stingy.

Noel’s HQ will include undercover celebrity challenges, hidden camera stunts and huge prize giveaways, the latter all stored in the NHQ studios wall of deposit boxes – but beware they’re not all good. At any given moment in the show Noel will select someone to open a box – the good among us will have the chance to win something amazing, but for those of us who aren’t so good the deposit boxes tell them now’s the time for payback. In addition, Noel will enlist the help of a dedicated team known as the Guerrilla Squad, who will take on the job of making Britain more beautiful. The disgusting and derelict that blight many people’s waking hours will be transformed overnight – all in under eight hours and under cover of darkness.

Fantastic concept, should be a fantastic and motivational programme.
Shame it’s on Sky (who kept the station SKY1 for only Sky subscribers, which is a bit ironic conidering the show’s ideals)
Will we get to see it on freeview at any time?

Keep up the great work Noel. Loved the book.

  2. The statement made by Noel on BBC TV does not seem to correlate with the stated content of the show here! Broken Britain cannot be fixed in that way, although it will help people to help each other more.

Our problem is now deeply structural and it can only be addressed by restoring true democracy to this nation. As long as we continue to have the dominant 2 party system, neither of which truly represents the wishes of the majority of the electorate, things will not change; this is because our governments are not elected by a majority of the people. The current government for example was elected by just over 20% of the electorate. The other 80% of us have no say in what happens! Once either of the two parties get into power they forget the electorate and do as they like. This process has now ruined our country and economy progressively.

Could not agree more ,BUT HOW CAN WE CHANGE THE VERY BAD SYSTEM FOR THE BETTER, MORE PARTIES EQUALS MORE FRAGMENTATION.WHAT WE ALL NEED AND REQUIRE IS FOR THE POLITITIONS TO STOP PLAYING POLITICS,AND GIVE THE NATION THE FOLLOWING.
    1. Effecient government, the present level of mismanagement is a joke!!.
    2. Efficient control of all imigration, with very strict requirements and all have health and criminal records checks.Plus only those professions that will enhance our country. NOT ALL THE SCROUNGERS, who then bring in all the relatives.
    3. STOP THE CRIMINAL WASTE OF RESCOURCES AND THEREFORE MONEY. FAR BETTER AND STRICTER CONTROLS OF GOVERNMENT PURESE STRINGS.
    4. TO BE FAR MORE PRUDENT IN ALL THINGS,AS IT IS OUR COUNTRY WHERE MANY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDFS
    5. I WILL SHUT UP, BUT WISH YOU THE VERY BEST OF LUCK.
