Noel Fielding has been axed from BBC’s Never Mind The Buzzcocks after stories of drug use emerged in the weekend tabloids.

The Mighty Boosh comic was rumoured to have been appointed as team captain after guesting on the last series of the show. However The Sun reports that the BBC have axed him after Fielding admitted to taking cocaine, ecstasy, acid and magic mushrooms in an interview with the News of the World yesterday.

“Noel is absolutely gutted,” said a source. “As soon as news of his drug use broke he was told that he was no longer wanted on Buzzcocks. BBC bosses are very strict when it comes to drug users being on the screen…He’s really disappointed because he was looking forward to the gig so much.”
