Oasis to close BBC Electric Proms 2008

The BBC Electric Proms today announced Oasis as the final headliner to complete this year’s festival bill.

The world-renowned band will draw the event to a close when they take to the stage at the Roundhouse in London on Sunday 26 October following five days of music in both London and Liverpool.

Oasis are set to treat music fans to a very special performance at the festival and will be accompanied by the Crouch End Festival Chorus.

This marks yet another landmark in the band’s outstanding career to date.

Noel Gallagher said: “We are doing the Electric Proms, and we’re doing it with the Crouch End Choir as well… there’s 50 odd of them… because some of the songs on the album have got a 50-piece choir on them.

“So we’re gonna do a night at the Proms with that lot, it should be good actually… Ennio Morricone uses them for his spaghetti western stuff in England, so I’m already looking forward to that because I’ve never played the Roundhouse and I’ve never done the Proms.”

Festival Director Lorna Clarke added: “The closing night of the BBC Electric Proms has seen some legendary music acts take to the stage, including Ray Davies and The Who.

“Oasis are the perfect choice to close this year’s event and bring a massive performance to an iconic and intimate London music venue.”

The Electric Proms are taking place in two cities for the first time in the event’s three-year history. Both London and Liverpool will host the festival from Wednesday 22 to Sunday 26 October 2008.

More than 60 acts will perform at the event, which is bigger than ever.

Tickets for Oasis will go on sale at 8.15am on Tuesday 30 September 2008 from bbc.co.uk/electricproms.

All other tickets are already on sale.
