Odd Programme of the week: ‘Other People’s Breast Milk’
Our first Odd Programme of the Week is ‘Other People’s Breast Milk’, Monday 03 November, 2:10am on
Channel 4. My initial reaction to reading the blurb about the show was, ‘ewwwwwwwwwww!’ Here’s what it says…
‘Kate Garraway investigates the pros and cons of cross-feeding, breast milk donation and wet nursing, and meets some of the growing number of women who share each other’s milk. Garraway talks to a range of people who believe that the only proper milk to feed is from the breast, including sisters who cross-feed, women who can produce milk despite having never been pregnant, surrogate mothers who produce milk for donation, and a cancer sufferer who believes he has been cured by breast milk.’
What I’m keen to know is, how did the man who believes he’s been cured of cancer come to think ‘why don’t I try breast milk’??
Next up is what sounds like a totally stupid film that’s basically soft porn with an attempt at a plot. It’s called, ‘Erotic Misadventures of the Invisible Man’, Wednesday 05 November, 11:40pm on Sci-Fi. In it, a struggling actor apparently spills an invisibility potion over himself and uses his newfound power for ‘saucy hijinks.’ Oh dear, how sad, but maybe fans of the seemingly never ending Porn Week programmes on Bravo will enjoy it. Maybe it’ll turn out to be like that old joke about a bloke who gropes a woman then shouts at Sooty for walking around naked…
Then we have at new talk show that seems to be a cross-breed between Jeremy Kyle and Judge Judy called, ‘Guilty!’ It’s on Friday 07 November, 5:10am on Sky1. In this show, guests try to resolve their problems in a ‘mock courtroom’. This episode features a woman who’s accused of tearing a family apart by having children by three brothers, and another woman who ‘charges’ her daughter-in-law with being lazy. You can pretty much know it’s going to be chavs who have about three teeth between them and as many brain cells.
But I think the OPW this week has to go to, ‘Groomer Has It’, Sunday 09 November, 3:00am on Animal Planet. This edition is entitled, ‘The Fashion Show’ and is apparently about, ‘A dozen diva dog groomers compete in a unique competition to win a top prize. It’s a battle of wills as the strong survive and the weak soon fall.’
What on earth is TV programming coming to?? Granted it’s on in the bowels of the morning when only really desperate insomniacs are likely to tune in but seriously, who commissioned a show about a dog grooming competition? And how can they further, in all seriousness, advertise it in such dramatic terms? ‘… the strong survive and the weak soon fall’? Bonkers!
I might have to try and watch it actually just to see if it lives up to its ridiculously over the top hype!
Let us know if you’ve spotted anything freaky, weird or just plain stupid on TV!
