Award–winning British Iranian comic Omid Djalili will return to BBC One with a second run of his self-penned, self-titled stand up and sketch series, The Omid Djalili Show.

BBC One has re-commissioned a further six episodes to showcase Omid’s unique fusion of high energy stand up, comedy sketches and characters, all of which take a sideways swipe at modern day life in a multi-cultural society.

Following transmission of Omid’s recent first series The Times said: “He is a mover and a shaker, a master of accents, a genius of disguise and a hyperactive Iranian cherub all rolled into one.”

The Guardian also recognised Omid’s huge comedic talent, saying: “Right now, the Iranian Djalili is probably one of the most subversive, let alone funniest, comedians around.”

Omid says: “I am very grateful for the opportunity to develop more material for a second series and look forward to working with the great team I had for the first one.”

Lucy Lumsden, BBC Controller Comedy Commissioning, says: “Omid is a talented and distinctive performer, we’re so pleased to have another series following his successful debut on BBC One.”
