Our tribute to Reg Varney

One of the UK’s biggest stars, Reg Varney, died on Sunday at the grand old age of 92, so as a tribute to the man and his work, we’ve compiled a small selection of Reg’s most memorable TV appearances.

I best remember him in On The Buses, as I’m sure most of us do, and every time there’s a repeat of the spin-off films on TV, I always watch them and am transported back to the 70s and my childhood.

Here’s to you Reg… you were a pioneer in your day and nice bloke to boot!

Here’s a clip of Reg getting the This Is Your Life treatment with some very young famous faces…

And this one is a scene from On The Buses where the harried Stan finds he’s expected to pay for a load of stuff that Olive’s bought.

This clip is from a Christmas special of the show; watch out for the antiquated chalk board intro and the LWT ident… anyone around 40ish will doubtless remember that ident fondly!

And finally, here’s Reg talking to Terry Wogan about his career and in particular, his time with On The Buses.

RIP Reg.
