Parents Of The Band With Jimmy Nail

Jimmy Nail makes a welcome return to BBC One and stars as a former Eighties one-hit wonder in Parents Of The Band, a new family drama in which three reluctant rock stars are thwarted by their meddling parents.

In today’s opening episode, Phil Parker (Nail) takes a huge interest in son Jack’s band – much to Jack’s dismay. Jack and his friends, Granville and Eddie, however, only formed the band to have a bit of a laugh and maybe attract some attention from the girls. But Phil has other ideas. He may be a cabinet-maker now, but no one can take his silver disc away from him.

Phil is later unprepared for Granville and Eddie’s parents, pompous lawyer Ashton, Carmen and Sandy being equally passionate about having a say in the future of the band. On the plus side for Phil, Eddie’s mum, Sandy is very attractive and he wastes no time in asking her out.

Concerned about how Jack is coping since he and Jack’s mum, Marketa, separated, Phil decides a bit of quality father-and-son time will do the trick. When he hears Radiohead are playing locally, he asks his ex-roadie and work colleague, Kipper, if he can score some tickets. Kipper promises to sort it, but what Kipper says and what Kipper does are two entirely different things.

Parents Of The Band is created by Jimmy Nail and Tarquin Gotch (Still Crazy, Home Alone), and stars Jimmy Nail as Phil Parker, Peter Losasso as Jack, Franz Drameh as Granville, David Barseghian as Eddie, Colin McFarlane as Ashton, Nicola Hughes as Carmen, Niky Wardley as Sandy, Geoff McGivern as Kipper and Nina Young as Marketa.
