She’s shed an incredible 2st since giving birth to her fourth child in December – but actress Patsy Palmer insists her figure’s the last thing on her mind.
The EastEnders star, back to a trim size 10 after giving birth to son Bertie, also says she doesn’t want to become “obsessed” with her body. She puts her slim figure down to going for long walks along the seafront near her home in Brighton, as well as doing bikram yoga.
Speaking to this week’s Closer magazine, Patsy, 38, said: “I haven’t been thinking about working hard to shed my baby weight – I’m eating a lot of chocolate!”
The star – who has three other children, Charley, 19, from a previous relationship, and Fenton, 10, and Emilia, nine, with her husband of 10 years, taxi driver Richard Merkell – says she’s besotted with her new arrival, revealing: “I’m obsessed with him!”
Bertie was seven weeks premature, but despite his traumatic start, which meant he spent his first three weeks in an incubator, the actress says she’s feeling “more relaxed than ever.” She adds: “I was worried at first even though I’ve got three others. You do think you might forget what to do!”
Patsy, who has played Bianca Jackson in BBC1 soap EastEnders on and off since 1993, revealed in January that she wasn’t sure she’d return to the show after her maternity leave, just weeks after co-star Samantha Womack, 38, announced she was leaving. However, the actress later denied reports she’d quit the show because of the plot, saying: “I have every intention of returning when the time is right.”
And she tells Closer: “I’m just seeing what happens. I’m not on contract there anymore but I would never write it off.”
She adds: “I can’t imagine going back full-time because I just don’t want to leave him. I don’t even want much time to myself!”
This week’s Closer magazine is on sale now (Tuesday).
