PETER KAY’S BRITAIN’S GOT THE POP FACTOR AND POSSIBLY A NEW CELEBRITY JESUS CHRIST SOAPSTAR SUPERSTAR STRICTLY ON ICE

Britain’s Got the Pop Factor and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice is the first original work for British television that Peter Kay has written and starred in for four years, and promises to be a joyous celebration of contemporary reality talent shows. Shot both on location and in studio the show features over a hundred tracks of music and forms one half of the second Channel 4 Peter Kay Night.

The second half of the night consists of documentary Raider of the Pop Charts, which reveals the story behind Peter Kay’s numerous chart successes and takes a unique look behind the scenes of all three of his iconic pop videos, including exclusive interviews with Sir Michael Parkinson, Richard Curtis and Mr Blobby.

i actually thought it was the most pointless piece of shit ive ever watched

  2. Garry K Says:

Peter Kay’s previous work has been the work of near genius, such as Phoenix Nights. However, this latest show was well-below par, and the fact that X Factor is already a parody of itself, devalues it tremendously.

Very poor Peter, and you need to do better!

  3. Dave G Says:

Brilliant! - maybe a little too subtle for some but but for anyone with a knowledge of music as well as a grasp of the English language and inuendo - a truly great classic!!

  4. David Says:

Well I just didnt get it!! I am a big fan of Peter’s but really this was utter crap. The plot was so slow it was like watching paint dry and in places made uncomfortable viewing and i feel made being disabled something to laugh at. Parts of the show were in bad taste , the whole thing was rubbish to be honest. very dissapointed as i was really looking forward to watching it. Peter lad buck up and take a leaf out of Brendon o’carols book of tallent as he really does know how to write good funny stuff.

  5. DM Says:

What a complete load of rubbish peter. Total waste of an evenings viewing. Please dont repeat this program again, perleeez.

  6. DELacey Says:

It was really rubbish, I was all geared up for it, as we love Peter Kay in our house, but it was just sooooooo boring

  7. Aaron Says:

    Very poor show peter!

It just goes to show that you cant make this stuff up, and this is one instance where a reality show i.e The X-factor is more funny because of the sincerity and abject lack of talent of most of the contestants. Its just not possible to emulate that no matter how hard you try.

  8. Lauren Says:

IT WAS UTTERLY CRAP!!!! NOTHING AT ALL TO WRITE HOME ABOUT!!!

ITS A SHAME, AS I LOVE PETER KAY!

  9. Roger Mibum Says:

  12. njm Says:

BRILLIANT P***S TAKE,SUPERB, THE PEOPLE THAT DONT GET IT OBVIOUSLY DONT WATCH X FACTOR EVERY WEEK………WELL DONE!!!!!

  13. badvock Says:

omg, so many people sooo totally missing the whole point. Of course it was in bad taste but at least it was up front about it rather than the thinly veiled sob story bullshit we are forced to watch on the real thing. It held up a mirror to pop idol et al and very few got the point. For me some of his best work, simply becuase it was bullish and in your face opposed to his earlier more subtle work simply means a change in direction. Oh and garry K x factor a parody of itself??? lol that must be why it keeps coming back and ripping people out of their cash (though who can blame them for that)

  14. Clare Says:

Will it be on again missed it and would like to watch it

  15. bob Says:

I thought that some bits, although stupid, were quite funny, especially the bit where she fell off the stool
    lol, soz for offense caused

  16. Carl Says:

I think that you all are talking rubbish, it was amazing. It is true X Factor let the people who dont have a strong voice but have a sob story in.

  17. Dave Woolrich Says:

Utter genius. Loved every second and smiled the whole way through. I love X Factor and totally got it!

  18. josh connerz Says:

how can that b caled genius. this was the worst fing iv eva watched and expectations were well over rated…i wa proper dissapointed…the only bit that humoured me at all was when the security guard got head butted and dropped to the floor…..complete and utter wank m8

  19. CALLYHANDRA Says:

MMOST SEXAY THING I EVA WATCHED SOOO HILARIOUS

  20. Adrian Coombes Says:

I thought the program was brilliant. I love the fact that a lot of the people who left their comments on this site hated it. Those people, and i hope millions of people like them, have totally missed the point of the program and deserve the “X Factor” etc. Peter Kay is not just a plump stand-up comic from Bolton put on this planet to remind us of the seventies and eighties. The man is a genius. Not only has he put on an excellent parody of the crap you people demand on a Saturday night. He has managed to rip the hell out of morons like you that have written in saying, “D’uh, i didn’t get it. I fought it woz rubbish”. Now that is just wonderful. I mean you only have to read the text speak language to realise you are the lowest common denominator and you will never stand a chance of understanding brilliantly crafted comedy that works on many levels. I suggest you keep watching your saturday night main stream nonsense and continue to allow those of us that use our heads to laugh at you. Idiots.

  21. James Says:

In response to Adrian, I am a Peter Kay fan that doesn’t talk in ‘text speak’. I have seen the X Factor quite a few times in the past, and yesm, I ‘got it’. But the fact is for a comedy entertainment program it just wasn’t that funny. It followed the X Factor far to closely and there were hardly any laugh out loud moments. Who care’s about subtlety, when at the end of the day it is a COMEDY entertainment show? It is not brilliantly crafted at all, since it is virtually the same script as The X Factor.
So yes it was alright, but I think the fact that you clearly love Peter Kay means you viewed a very average comedy through rose-tinted glasses. I will continue to watch programs I enjoy which doesn’t include ’saturday night mainstrean nonsense’ (I assume Sunday night television is more ‘cool’). Idiot.

  22. OB Says:

funniest pisstake ive seen on telly for a long time. out of 4 of us 1 didnt enjoy it the others were in stitches

it briliantly parodied the sheer inane-ness of x factor etc and featured some spot on performances

1 hilight was the audition of the ‘daughter’ in the terrible pink dress. and free nelson madela into umbrella is too much

    big up PK

  23. rob d Says:

peter kay you are a genius! all these pplthat think this was a shit program are obviously the brainless drones that do get sucked in by x factor every sat night. as for the person that thought it followed the x factor too closely… thats the idea you idiot! and yes i agree the humour was subtle, but only because it was aimed at an audience that would get it. i ask all those who thought it was shit, to watch again and borrow the family brain on that day… thats if r dad isnt usin it to sew r daughters dress for the next x factor!

  24. Adrian Coombes Says:

In response to James. I suggest you read, and re-read Rob D’s comments on the subject. He is the only other person that has commented on this site that has understood Peter Kays program. If you need it explaining to you then it shows you with glaring clarity that the program was directly aimed at taking the piss out of people LIKE YOU, not at programs like X Factor. DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW? WOULD YOU PREFER IF I USED WORDS OF ONE SYLLABLE? And as for your comment on “Who cares about subtlety?” Suggested and subtle comedy means one has to use ones brain to work out the joke. If its belly laugh out loud comedy you want, what the hell are you doing trying to watch Peter Kay? I’m sure you could have found something to laugh out loud at in your Roy Chubby Brown and Jim Davidson dvd collection. Phoenix nights wasn’t a documentary on life at a Lancashire night club, you know? Dick.

  25. mandy hinson Says:

i thought it was fantastic carnt remember the last time i pissed me sen we laughing so much it was bang on how any one could not have thought it was brill must be brain dead ha ha ha GARLIC BREAD get that in ya
