I dont know how people can swallow this rubbish, Peter kay is simply NOT FUNNY!
'Britains Got The Pop Factor' was a complete waste of time. Absolute drivel.
The fact is, that people from the north west (Particularly Bolton), give him laughs
out of pity. They feel that they need to support him because he is a "Northerner"
plain and simple.
I should say that Peter Kay is Plain and Simple but that would be a complement.
There is no comic genius in repeating the words "Garlic bread" once in a while.
Peter Kay commonly uses a technique called compounding, which he uses effectivley.
(if one joke works, repeat it through the show in order to get more laughs)
but that is just stagecraft.
The show on the royal variety performance was terrible.
Mr Kay has repetitive puns for his character Geraldine who constantly states:
"When i used to be a young boy." (Again - Componding.)
Anyone with half a brain can see that he is "Cashing in" for christmas, the proceeds
of which will go to charity.I very much doubt this, a small percentage may be donated but common sense
leads me to believe that the majority will be placed in the stretched back pocket on his plump behind.

But one thing is certain, hes not very talented as a comic, so hes singing for his supper.

Peter KAY is a fine example of puerile, unfunny drivel being heralded as genius and lauded to the hilt... it just shows how gullible we are to go on swallowing this sort of unfunny crap without question.

In response to James. I suggest you read, and re-read Rob D's comments on the subject. He is the only other person that has commented on this site that has understood Peter Kays program. If you need it explaining to you then it shows you with glaring clarity that the program was directly aimed at taking the piss out of people LIKE YOU, not at programs like X Factor. DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW? WOULD YOU PREFER IF I USED WORDS OF ONE SYLLABLE? And as for your comment on "Who cares about subtlety?" Suggested and subtle comedy means one has to use ones brain to work out the joke. If its belly laugh out loud comedy you want, what the hell are you doing trying to watch Peter Kay? I'm sure you could have found something to laugh out loud at in your Roy Chubby Brown and Jim Davidson dvd collection. Phoenix nights wasn't a documentary on life at a Lancashire night club, you know? Dick.

peter kay you are a genius! all these pplthat think this was a shit program are obviously the brainless drones that do get sucked in by x factor every sat night. as for the person that thought it followed the x factor too closely... thats the idea you idiot! and yes i agree the humour was subtle, but only because it was aimed at an audience that would get it. i ask all those who thought it was shit, to watch again and borrow the family brain on that day... thats if r dad isnt usin it to sew r daughters dress for the next x factor!

funniest pisstake ive seen on telly for a long time. out of 4 of us 1 didnt enjoy it the others were in stitches

it briliantly parodied the sheer inane-ness of x factor etc and featured some spot on performances

1 hilight was the audition of the 'daughter' in the terrible pink dress. and free nelson madela into umbrella is too much

big up PK

In response to Adrian, I am a Peter Kay fan that doesn't talk in 'text speak'. I have seen the X Factor quite a few times in the past, and yesm, I 'got it'. But the fact is for a comedy entertainment program it just wasn't that funny. It followed the X Factor far to closely and there were hardly any laugh out loud moments. Who care's about subtlety, when at the end of the day it is a COMEDY entertainment show? It is not brilliantly crafted at all, since it is virtually the same script as The X Factor.
So yes it was alright, but I think the fact that you clearly love Peter Kay means you viewed a very average comedy through rose-tinted glasses. I will continue to watch programs I enjoy which doesn't include 'saturday night mainstrean nonsense' (I assume Sunday night television is more 'cool'). Idiot.
