Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham will head up Diamond Jubilee coverage for ITV
ITV have pulled out the big guns for their coverage of the forthcoming Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, with veteran presenters Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham reportedly heading up their team of commentators.
Phil and Julie – who I’d quite like to call Phulie just because I want to and can – are of course a proven team, given that they presented coverage of the Royal Wedding last year.
For the Jubilee hoedown, they’ll be on air on June 5th for a marathon seven-and-a-half-hour show, live from a studio outside the gates of Buckingham palace.
Meanwhile, newsreaders Natasha Kaplinsky, Alastair Stewart, Mary Nightingale, Mark Austin and Nina Hossain will commentate on a procession that will head out from the palace to St Paul’s Cathedral…
What’s On TV add that James Mates will lead the ceremonial commentary of events at the cathedral for the service of thanksgiving, while Alan Titchmarsh will present a special show entitled, Elizabeth: Queen, Wife, Mother, in which he’ll speak to a variety of guests, including the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of York.
Also on ITV during the big weekend is a documentary entitled, The Queen & I, which features people from around the UK sharing their home movie footage of the Queen through the years.
Michael Jermey, ITV’s director of news an d current affairs said, “We’ll aim to capture the national mood as millions of people across the country toast the Queen’s 60th anniversary on the throne.”
