Pointless co-host Richard Osman named as Weird Crush of the year! Who’s yours?
Heat magazine recently conducted a poll to find out who their readers have weird crushes on, and among the candidates were Karl Pilkington – who stars in An Idiot Abroad – and Jeremy Clarkson, who’s become adept at placing his size 11 clodhoppers in his mouth…
But also competing for the title was quiz show ‘Pointless’ co-host Richard Osman, and he was in fact voted Weird Crush of the year, having received the most votes from readers.
Richard, who’s also a TV exec and scriptwriter, said of the award, “I’m about 50% honoured and 50% embarrassed.
“I’m not sure whether it means I’m the best weird crush – or the weirdest crush.”
However, he added, “Beggars can’t be choosers, so I’ll take any compliment that comes my way. I am aglow with pride.”
Heat magazine’s editor, Lucie Cave, added, “Richard embodies the true character of what the Heat weird crush is all about…
“[He’s] a smart, clever man who wows readers with his uniqueness.”
Other candidates were Radio 1 presenter Aled Haydn Jones, The Only Way Is Essex star Mick Norcross, Prime Minister David Cameron, and his deputy, Nick Clegg.
Adrian Chiles, who ended his presenting run on Daybreak yesterday, also made it into the Top 20 of Weird Crushes.
Personally, I just don’t get it. Several of these men look like they should be guarding a magic ring somewhere…
I don’t think I have a weird crush, but my daughter used to fancy Richard Whiteley, for which I tortured her mercilessly.
Who’s your weird crush?
In the meantime, let’s have a squiz at Richard Osman in action….
