Whilst Scotland Yard continues its investigation into the paedophilic behaviour of the late TV presenter, Jimmy Savile, and others linked to his crimes, another un-named man in his 80’s has been brought in and questioned.
Right from the start of the current Jimmy Savile scandal that hit us a few months ago, other celebrity names have been linked to the late TV presenter, and his paedophilic behaviour, in particular Gary Glitter and Freddie Starr, and most recently it saw the arrest of radio legend, DJ Dave Lee Travis, in connection with the late TV presenter.
Scotland Yard officers in charge of the on-going investigation had warned that every person whose name they have been given, famous or otherwise, throughout the 400 lines of enquiry currently open, would be sought after and interrogated.
The Jimmy Savile scandal came to light after an ITV exposure documentary highlighted the late TV presenters shady past through a series of statements from witnesses and victims who claimed that he had abused young girls during his 50 year television career. Since the programme, which also criticised the BBC who shelved a similar Newsnight broadcast a year before, over 300 people have come forward claiming to have been abused by Jimmy, who passed away last November, also.
Since then both Gary Glitter, who was convicted in 1999 for possession of child pornography in the United Kingdom, then in 2006, a court in Vietnam found him guilty of committing obscene acts with minors, and Freddie Starr, have been quizzed by police, and subsequently arrested as part of the investigation into Savile’s abuse, named operation Yewtree.
Starr was arrested and then later bailed, whilst Gary Glitter – real name Paul Gadd – was also questioned for nine hours at Charing Cross police station in connection with the investigation, before being released on bail.
We reported earlier this month of another arreest made as part of the investigation of a man in his 70’s who was confronted at his home in Cambridge on November 11. He was then taken and detained ata local police station whilst undergoing police questioning in custody, with no word at the time as to whether he was a celebrity or not. However since the man in question was released on bail, it has been reported to be ex-TV producer Wilfred De’Ath.
Now, the Sun newspaper reports that a second un-named man, this time in his 80’s has been called in for questioning.
Again, the suspect, who is believed to be from Berkshire, has had his identity kept secret after the man in question kept a pre-arranged midday appointment in South London, before leaving shortly after 5pm after being interviewed.
This development comes after officers carried out a search of an address in Berkshire on Saturday.
So far this investigation has seen four arrests including
