Poppy Jhakra Joins Coronation Street
Actress Poppy Jhakra is soon joining the cast of Coronation Street as ‘a tearaway’ in a bid by the show’s bosses to make the soap reflect Manchester’s ethnic mix.
The 23 year old actress will play Minnie, a kebab shop worker with an uncontrollable temper which she demonstrates by covering a customer in chilli sauce.
She’s the fourth Asian character to be introduced after a race equality report slammed the ITV1 show for “stereotyping” and “tokenism”.
