Primetime Picks of next week’s TV

primetime picks tv

Hi all, hope you’re having a great weekend, and as part of your Sunday chill out, here’s a few entertaining finds for next week’s viewing…

We try to avoid the usual TV recommendations and go for programmes that are slightly unusual so many of them might be a tad graphic, but that’s half the fun right? Having to watch from behind your cushion while someone has an axe removed from their head or something or taking a look at how someone else’s life went awry or even went well!

Those are the kind of shows we like to recommend, so here are our TV picks for this coming week…

Cannibal Killer, 10:00pm, Five

This is an altogether more serious and very harrowing documentary which examines the case of British cannibal David Harker, who killed Darlington cannibal killerwoman Julie Paterson and ate her flesh. The film explores the trail of devastation in the wake of Harker’s crime, which was to claim two more lives.

Police were alerted to the murder when they found Paterson’s remains dumped in a sack in a secluded lane but the victim’s head and limbs were never found and the killer has never expressed any remorse for his actions. In the aftermath of the murder, Paterson’s boyfriend, Alan Taylor, tragically became obsessed with finding the rest of her body, and took to digging holes all over Darlington.

It’s a wonderful and moving film which if you’ve never seen before means you’re in for a treat.

Here’s a clip from the film…

Saturday

Hostel, 10:00pm, Five USA

Presented by Quentin Tarantino and written and directed by Eli Roth, Hostel is a shocking and relentless film in the tradition of Saw. It’s about two American backpackers who’re travelling in Europe and find themselves lured in as victims of a murder-for-profit business. A fellow backpacker recommends a particular hostel in an out-of-the-way Slovakian town which – they’re promised – is ‘stocked’ with Eastern European women as desperate as they are gorgeous…

The two friends arrive and soon easily pair off with exotic beauties Natalya and Svetlana. In fact, too easily. . . Initially distracted by the good time they’re having, the two Americans quickly find themselves trapped in an increasingly sinister situation that they will discover is as deep as the darkest, sickest recess of human nature itself.

Here’s the very spooky trailer…

Lee Evans Live from the West End, 10:00pm, Comedy Central

I’ve seen this show several times, and it’s well worth watching! Fair dos to Lee, he puts on a performance that’s well worth the cost of a ticket; it’s hilarious so don’t miss it if you can humanly avoid it!

family guyOh praise be! The new series of Family Guy begins with more from Peter, Stewie, Brian, Meg and the rest of the gang… If you like the Simpsons and have a weird sense of humour, this is a must-see show.
