Ralf Little says Craig Cash threatened to kill of his Royle Family character, Anthony!

Comedy star Ralf Little – who’s making a comeback to our screens next week in new Sky1 comedy, The Café – has revealed that Royle Family co-writer Craig Cash has threatened to kill off Our Anthony, who is of course Ralf’s character in the sitcom.

Ralf made the revelation while speaking to the PA at a press conference to launch The Café yesterday.

He said that Craig – who writes Royle Family along with Caroline Aherne – told him, “’Oh, isn’t it a shame about Anthony dying in that car crash. Let’s never mention him again’.”

However, Ralf added that he thinks Craig’s joking about killing off Ant, and let’s hope he is, because Royle Family wouldn’t be the same without him!

On the subject of the sitcom, the Christmas special of which was of course cancelled this year as Craig and Caroline didn’t finish the script in time, Ralf says he’s “fairly” sure that he will feature in next year’s special…

And while poking a jokey dig at Craig and Caroline for missing the deadline to film a Christmas special this year, Ralf said, “It’s not really work…”

However, he then conceded, “Well it is for Craig and Caroline, but I’m just an actor. I just turn up and have a great time.”

Getting back to new comedy The Café, which Ralf co-wrote, he revealed that he’d had the idea for the show for some time before he plucked up the courage to present the idea to Craig.

Ralf said, “I took ages to pluck up the courage, but I eventually handed it over when we were doing a Royle Family Christmas special in 2009.

“That was in November and he finally got round to calling me in February, admitting he’d only just read it, and he really liked it.

“I think it was as much of a surprise to him as it was to me!”

The Café premieres on Sky1 on November 23rd, but in the meantime, let’s take a look at some classic Our Anthony moments from Royle Family episodes, and an outtake scene from Ralf’s other comedy, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps…

And in this clip, Darren – who’s played by Andy Whyment, who of course plays Kirk in Corrie – is trying to score a date with Emma’s (Sheridan Smith) friends…

And finally, here’s an outtake clip Ralf at work on Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, alongside Sheridan again…
