Britney Spears kicked off her Las Vegas residency just a couple of days back, and let’s just hope it goes a little better than her E! documentary…
Over the festive period, E! aired a special Britney Spears documentary which looked at her journey to Las Vegas. We saw Britney put together a team of dancers and we got an insight into the building of the stage and rehearsals… but not many were interested.
According to recent ratings figures, the documentary which aired on December 22 only managed 706,000 viewers on the network.
The whopping 2-hour special tanked in the ratings as Brit not only gave us an insight into the new show, but she also opened up about the industry as a whole and her journey from a child to where she is today.
She said: “I turn into this different person… seriously, bipolar disorder. I’m not really made out for this industry”.
Speaking about her two-year residency in Las Vegas, the 32-year-old singer said: “This is a big year for me, it’s the first show I’ve done in two years. I am trying to let myself relax a little bit but not too much because I know that I have a lot ahead of me”.
Elsewhere in ratings news, it has been revealed that the Doctor Who Christmas special broke BBC America’s ratings record as the most-watched show ever on Christmas Day.
The special, which aired on Christmas Day saw Matt Smith’s doctor regenerate into the new doctor played by Peter Capaldi, Capaldi made his debut toward the latter end of the show.
In total, 2.47 million tuned in to see Matt Smith bow out of his role of Doctor Who. The previous record was also held by Doctor Who, specifically the 50th anniversary episode which aired last month. The special episode drew in 2.4 million viewers.
