I was eagerly awaiting for the much hyped Gossip Girl to kick off on ITV2 last night. It was created by Josh Schwartz, the man behind the OC and Chuck, both great TV shows, so it follows that this one will be just as good, right?

Wrong! I made myself sit through the whole hour, so I could give a balanced and fair view of the show, but it was hard going. In comparison with some of the other new shows that have kicked off recently, Dirty Sexy Money in particular, this show was slow to get started and failed to hold my interest.

I love shows like The OC and Dawsons Creek, so in theory this should be right up my street, and while I didn’t loathe it, Gossip Girl will not be ranking in my top five current TV shows. It probably wouldn’t even score a place in my top ten.

To be fair, I will be give the show a second chance, and I’ll watch the next episode on Thursday night, so check back next week and read the verdict!
