In a report out today in The Sun, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan admitted to smoking marijuana.

The couple revealed they’d dabbled with weed and said that Judy had smoked more often than Richard.

“I didn’t like it.” He said, and added, “And I’ve never tried any other drugs as I’ve got an addictive personality.

“I was seriously addicted to cigarettes for years so I always assumed that if I tried drugs, I’d be instantly hooked. I’d be a junkie.”

Judy, 60, added: “I smoked it a couple of times but it didn’t do anything for me. I’ve never tried any other drugs. I’ve never felt the need.”

Despite experimenting during their college days, the couple say they’ve worked hard to educate their kids about drugs. Their daughter Chloe, 20, has landed her first TV job on her parent’s new chat show, New Position, but the couple are said to be confident that she won’t be led astray by fame.

Richard, 52, said, “Both our kids are incredibly anti-drugs. They have friends that do them but they actively discourage it.”

Judy added, “If one of our kids’ friends says to them, ‘Let’s do drugs’ they’ll actually shout at them.”

“One of their friends developed mental problems from smoking cannabis every day.

Although the couple are concerned about drugs, Richard and Judy particularly want the Government to urgently tackle knife crime after Chloe was the victim of a violent mugging last year.

Richard said, “You’ve got to deter people, that’s the only way. Kids as young as 14 should be sent to jail if they’re carrying a knife to make them see how serious it is.”
