Robin Hood axed by the BBC

Robin Hood, BBC One
The BBC has announced that they’re axing Robin Hood in light of several cast departures and a reduction in viewing figures.

According to the Press Association, the show, which averaged between four and five million viewers during its third and final series, pulled in about 1.7 million viewers for its final show, the BBC said.

It suffered the slump after being moved to BBC2 from its normal slot on BBC1 to make way for live coverage of Andy Murray at Wimbledon.

Also, several cast members have left the show recently including Jonas Armstrong and Richard Armitage and Keith Allen has said that he doesn’t want to be a part of any new series that may have been commissioned.

A BBC spokesperson said of the decision to axe the show, “Viewers have enjoyed three fantastic series of Robin Hood but with the death of Robin in last week’s finale, we feel that the show has reached its natural conclusion.”

Will you miss it?

  1. TARDISHOOD says:

Absolutely. I love this version of Hood and it is a lose to the TV industry. There was so much potentail for a 4th Season. Yes Robin [Jonas Armstrong] may have left but the introduction of his brother, Archer, left the door open for a brand new serise of adventures in Sherwood Forest. A lose to the light entertainment industry. Such a waste. Shame.
