Little Britain star Matt Lucas has claimed that dressing as Cheryl Cole for a recent sketch almost turned him straight!

Matt and his co-star David Walliams dressed as Girls Aloud members Nicola and Cheryl as part of their new series of Rock profiles. The pair wore gold sequined gowns, similar to the ones from the video of No 1 single The Promise. Matt told The Sun: “I looked in the mirror and I was so beautiful I nearly became straight.”

David added: “Cheryl’s just become this icon hasn’t she? So we do have some fun with that.”

The [air will also perform a sketch based on Kerry Katona and husband Mark Croft. She has given them plenty of material after all!

David said: “We did a lot of research watching Kerry on This Morning and wrote down her interview word for word. As soon as we had finished the script, they announced the split. But they were back together by Monday. Day by day it’s a new drama.

“We take the mickey but it’s affectionate, it’s never personal.”
