It’s emerged today that Russell Brand has been approached to co-star in the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean movie.

Brand would apparently play Jonathan – ironically enough, given it’s the name of his partner in crime over Manuelgate – who’s the younger brother of Johnny Depp’s character, Jack Sparrow.

The Sun reports that the deal could be worth around £5 million for Brand.

A source is cited in the paper as saying, “There couldn’t be a role more perfectly suited. There’s a lot of Jack Sparrow in his mannerisms and behaviour. Depp’s accent isn’t a million miles away from Russell’s either.”

Brand would be joining the Sparrow family alongside Keith Richards who will play their dad.

He might well be glad of the income given that he’s resigned from his presenting job on Radio 2 after the phone call incident!
