Saturday Night Live …….Again! On ITV

ITV brings the best of British comedy to one unique stage with the groundbreaking format of Saturday Live Again!

First hitting the nation’s screens in 1986, Saturday Live was the launch pad for some of Britain’s best-loved comedians, including Ben Elton, Harry Enfield, Rik Mayall, Ade Edmondson, Fry & Laurie, Lee Evans, Julian Clary and Jo Brand, providing their first comedic platform on mainstream TV.

This was the time when comedy became young and sexy and found its true voice, tearing itself away from mother-in-law jokes and sitcoms set in suburbia. Saturday Live turned the world of comedy on its head and completely re-shaped the landscape.

From Ben Elton’s legendary rants about ‘Thatch’, to Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson as The Dangerous Brothers hijacking the programme by blowing up a wall and their trousers in that order, Saturday Live was new, innovative, in your face, and always funny.

Who can forget Julian Clary’s first appearance as ‘The Joan Collins Fan Club’ trussed up in finest rubber, Harry Enfield giving birth to two of the most iconic characters of the 1980’s, Stavros (“Hello everybodypeeps!”) and Loadsamoney, Meatloaf forgetting his lines in a sketch with Steven Fry and nearly saying the f-word live on air, those massive inflatables in the studio, and, of course, great great music?

That was 1986…

But tonight, Saturday Live Again! headlines an acclaimed group of comedians and music known and loved on British TV but never before seen together on one stage - live!

Hosted by News Knight’s Marcus Brigstocke, the show will include Rose D’Or nominee/RTS winner Jimmy Carr, BAFTA-winning duo Mitchell and Webb (Peep Show), Perrier Award nominee Lee Mack, Little Miss Jocelyn writer and star, Jocelyn Jee Esien, wild and weird magician Pete Firman (“Dirty Tricks”) - plus a couple of real surprises!

And in a piece of must-see television history, a special guest performance from the original heartbeat of Saturday Live - Ben Elton.

There’s great music from one of the world’s most successful rock acts – Bon Jovi – plus Brit Award-winners Hard Fi.

Saturday 1 December 2007 9:40pm - 11:10pm
