It has today been reported that there’s going to be a new look first daughter coming to Scandal.
Citing “scheduling issues”, the show is set to replace actress Madeline Carroll, who has made two appearances as Karen Grant, with ‘Bridesmaids’ and ‘Body of Proof’ actress Mary Mouser.
Mouser will make her first ‘Scandal’ appearance on an all-new episode set to air this October.
Also not appearing in the fourth season is Columbus Short. Short played OPA gladiator Harrison Wright from 2012, but will be leaving the show due to legal issues. The show’s creator Shonda Rhimes has previously admitted that the actor’s absence “will be explained definitively. What you think happened to his character happened to his character.”
However, just when it seems like everyone is leaving the political thriller, we get some casting news. As we reported previously, we know that Portia De Rossi will be joining the cast for a multi-episode arc.
De Rossi’s wife, Ellen DeGeneres was first to break the news, tweeting out back in July: “So annoying when people brag on twitter & that’s why I’m not tweeting that Portia just signed on to do a top secret arc on ‘Scandal’. Oops.”. Details on De Rossi’s role are currently being kept under wraps.
According to Closer, is was actually DeGeneres who got her wife the role as part of a “grand gesture of love”.
“She convinced Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Scandal, to hire Portia for a story arc in the fall,” an insider reportedly told Closer. “Ellen knows that the best way to keep Portia’s mind off of their problems is to have her dive into work.”
‘Scandal’ will return to ABC on Thursday 25th September at 9pm on ABC.
