Star of Sean Saves the World, Sean Hayes, has hit out at NBC stating that the show is working for him, but it’s their fault that it’s getting the abysmal ratings that it is.
The show was very much hyped before it premiered on the network earlier this fall, but the ratings have been a little lackluster, and according to Hayes, it’s all NBC’s fault.
Sean may be good enough to save the world, but it doesn’t look like there’s anyone saving the show from falling off a cliff. Sean Saves the World has already embarked on the slippery slope to cancellation – is there any bringing it back?
Well… NBC seems to think so and if there’s a will, there’s a way. NBC’s solution is to rejig the schedule and put in some big shows before Sean Saves the World airs in a bid to bring in some more viewers.
Sean told TheTVPage.com: “To me, [the show] is working. It’s just the struggle of the elephant in the room which is ‘How do you get viewers to NBC?’
“NBC programs great shows, it just doesn’t have the eyeballs CBS does.” – Ouch, do you really want to be clawing at the network like that?
As we reported a couple of days back, NBC has rejigged its schedules on Wednesday and Thursday night’s. A number of SNL specials among other shows have been put into the 8pm slot on Thursdays in hopes that it will boost ratings for Sean Saves the World, which airs in the 9pm slot. If it doesn’t NBC may be forced to axe yet another show!
Hayes continued: “Even if I wasn’t on the show, it’d be the funniest sitcom, to me, on the air right now. I watch it and go, ‘Well, this is really f**king funny.’ I wouldn’t change anything right now. I think it’s all working”.
Could we see another Happy Endings-esque cancellation on our hands? The show worked and had a brilliant cast, but ABC ruined it!
Sean Saves the World continues on Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC.
