Tomorrow night on Channel 4 sees the first in a trilogy of new shows from the pen of Dead Set writer Charlie Brooker – who is of course married to former Blue Peter and Xtra Factor presenter, Konnie Huq – entitled, The National Anthem.
The “sarcastic drama” forms part of Charlie’s Black Mirror films, two of which were written by him, while the other was penned by Jesse Armstrong, who also writes for The Peep Show and Fresh Meat.
Airing at 9pm tomorrow night, political thriller ‘The National Anthem’ is described as being, “A twisted parable for the Twitter age” focusing on a fictional and futuristic Prime Minister Michael Callow (Rory Kinnear) we’ll see what dilemma he faces when he receives demands from a group who’ve kidnapped a member of the Royal Family.

Following The National Anthem will be a further two Black Mirror dramas, entitled 15 Million Merits and In Memoriam…
15 Million Merits airs next Sunday, December 11th, and is a satire based on entertainment and talent quest shows. The cast of 15 Million Merits includes Julia Davis, Rupert Everett, Daniel Kaluuya and Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown-Findlay.
In Memoriam, the third and last Black Mirror drama, will air on December 18th, and is set in an alternate reality, where everybody has access to a database system that records everything we do, see or hear. So nobody will ever forget a face, or an anniversary again, but is that really such a good thing?
Well, I guess we’ll find out! I can’t wait to see these shows; I was totally hooked on Dead Set, so I’m hoping these will be every bit as good as that was.
Will you be watching the Black Mirror trilogy?
