Series 3 of Cougar Town coming to Sky Living next month

by Lisa McGarry

From creator Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Spin City), the critically-acclaimed series ‘Cougar Town’ returns to Sky Living on Friday 9th March, 8.30pm for its much anticipated season 3 debut.

In her Golden Globe nominated role as Jules Cobb, iconic TV actress Courteney Cox stars in this ensemble comedy about life, family and friends. Jules’ inner circle includes next door neighbour Ellie (Christa Miller), her sarcastic, unapologetic confidante; Ellie’s average, but loveable husband, Andy (Ian Gomez); Grayson (Josh Hopkins), her boyfriend/neighbour from across the street; Laurie (Busy Philipps), her younger, feisty protégé; ex-husband Bobby (Brian Van Holt), a classic under-achiever, but full of heart; and Travis (Dan Byrd), her dry and witty son who more often than not is the adult observer amongst the group. Together, they make up “the cul-de-sac crew,” a dysfunctional, but supportive and caring extended family… even if they have a funny way of showing it sometimes.

After the climatic season 2 finale where Jules had no choice but to tell a baby-crazy Grayson that she’s done having kids, she and Grayson finally cement their on/off relationship when she tells him she’s ready to ‘go on any adventure with him’. Travis forgave Laurie for playing him over his breakup from Kirsten and Bobby realised he wasn’t going ever going to be alone with friends like Ellie and Andy.

The upcoming new season sees the engagement of divorcee Jules and her neighbour Grayson who finally feels ready to have a real, adult relationship…at last. The will they/won’t they relationship takes a huge leap this season as they plan their nuptials. This season also sees a number of Scrubs alumni guest stars including the irrepressible Sarah Chalke who joins the wine-soaked series in a major storyline as Angie, Travis’s photography professor with a natural beauty and a cool vibe who becomes a new love interest for Bobby. Zach Braff also makes a cameo this series along with Robert Maschio (aka Scrubs’ The Todd). Ken Jenkins (aka Scrubs’ Dr. Kelso) will reprise his role as Jules’ father. Finally, co-executive producer David Arquette makes a cameo appearance in the season finale as a hotel concierge who offers to help Jules and the gang with literally anything.

Cougar Town returns on Friday 9th March, 8.30pm.
