Yesterday, while appearing on US chat show The Talk – where she’s a regular panellist – Sharon Osbourne broke down and wept while discussing the revelation that her son Jack has multiple sclerosis.
26 year old Jack learned the news of his illness just weeks after his daughter Pearl was born to his fiancé Lisa Stelly.
When asked how Jack is, Sharon became emotional and said, “He’s great – he’s doing really, really good and I want to thank everyone for all their texts and goodwill and love they send to us.”
Co-host Julie Chen – who presents the US version of Big Brother – also fought back tears as she remarked that Jack is, “an amazing guy; he’s very courageous.”
Sharon added, “I really believe that vibes of prayer help, and what I’m doing right now is not helping because I’m just feeling sorry for myself, and that’s no good…
“So we just have to think positively and get on with this show that we love.”
Jack is himself appearing on the show today to discuss his incurable condition, which, in a recent interview with Hello! magazine he revealed that when he was first diagnosed with MS, his initial reaction was to be, “really angry, then really sad.”
He added, “Adapt and overcome is my new motto [but] he timing was so bad. I’d just had a baby, work was going great — I kept thinking, ‘Why now?’”
Jack’s dad Ozzy added, “If it was me, you’d think, ‘It caught up with him,’ but Jack is such a good guy.”
Sharon also revealed that she can’t help but wonder if she is in some way responsible for Jack’s condition.
She said, “I feel it’s somehow my fault. I keep thinking, ‘What did I eat or drink when I was pregnant?’”
