Sherlock: A Scandal in Belgravia is the most watched show on iPlayer this year!
As pretty much always happens, when cries of “inappropriate” and “too raunchy” are applied to a TV show, people flock to watch it to find out what all the fuss is about…
And it’s been revealed today that that voyeurism towards such shows has seen Sherlock episode, A Scandal in Belgravia, become the most watched BBC show on iPlayer.
As fans of the series will most likely recall, TV watchdog Ofcom received around a hundred complaints from viewers who said that scenes depicting actress Lara Pulver naked were inappropriate to air before the 9pm watershed.
In the episode, Lara played the role of kinky dominatrix Irene Adler, who, as mentioned – apart from a smile and a pair of stilettos – appeared completely naked…
The episode has subsequently been watched 2.5 million times on the iPlayer, which is a whopping 600,000 more views than the next most popular show, which was the third installment of the hit detective series.
Also making the most watched list is a controversial episode of Top Gear which featured the presenters in India. The edition in question led to the Indian High Commission sending a letter to the BBC expressing concern about how Jeremy Clarkson and his co-hosts, Richard Hammond and James May, had “mocked” Indian people and culture.
Here’s a reminder of the Sherlock scene that caused all the hoo-hah…
