Sherlock star Andrew Scott joins cast of new ITV drama, The Town
It’s been revealed today that Sherlock star Andrew Scott, who of course plays Moriarty, is to join a stellar cast for a new ITV drama entitled, The Town.
Filmed on location in High Wycombe – doesn’t quite have the same impact as ‘filmed on location in Figi’ does it? – the new series will also star Fresh Fields actress Julia McKenzie as well as Doc Martin actor, Martin Clunes.
Also starring Wuthering Heights actress Charlotte Riley, Shameless star Gerard Kearns and Hustle’s Kelly Adams, the drama tell the story of Andrew’s character Mark Nicholas, who returns to the fictional town of Renton, where he grew up.
What’s On TV mag states, “Mark’s drawn back to his old life but finds it hard to reconnect with his family, friends and first love Alice (Riley), who’s now married with a child…
”As the story unfolds, Mark must decide if he can build a new life in this strange place that he once called home.”
Kenton Allen, the co-executive producer of The Town, said of the drama, “At the heart of The Town will be a family struggling to come to terms with change.
“The story takes place in a landscape familiar to most of the UK – most of the population live their lives in a place like Renton.”
It’s expected that the drama will air later this year.
