Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch bags Best Actor at TV Choice Awards 2012! See full list of winners!

At last night’s TV Choice Awards ceremony, Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch landed the gong in the category of Best Actor, and in addition, the show overall won Best Drama.

Other awards went to all the great and good of British telly, with Miranda Hart landing the Best Actress award for her performance as Chummy in Call The Midwife.

The glitzy ceremony – which was held at the Dorchester in London’s Mayfair – also saw Doctor Who named as Best Family Drama, but its stars Karen Gillan and Matt Smith didn’t win in their nominated categories of Best Actress and Best Actor awards.

Keith Lemon and Jeremy Kyle won Best Entertainment Show and Best Daytime Show respectively for the second year running, while Britain’s Got Talent picked up the award for Best Talent Show, and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! was named Best Reality Show…

As is something of a tradition, EastEnders dominated the soap awards with Shane Richie, who of course plays Alfie Moon, named as Best Soap Actor, while Tony Discipline won the Best Newcomer gong for his portrayal of Tyler Moon. The show overall was named as Best Soap.

Also, Coronation Street’s Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina McIntyre, won Best Soap Actress, and there was also an Outstanding Contribution award for the cast and crew of Emmerdale in the year the soap celebrates its 40th anniversary.
