Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch joins Martin Freeman on The Hobbit
Martin Freeman has let it slip that his Sherlock co-star Benedict Cumberbatch will join him on the big screen adaptation of The Hobbit.
The actor was speaking to reporters at last night’s TV BAFTA Awards, after he and his pal picked up the ‘Best Drama’ award for the BBC One drama and revealed that Benedict would be joining him on screen once more when both stars appeared in Peter Jackson’s Tolkien adaptation.
Cumberbatch jumped in to insist that the news was supposed to be a secret and refused to give any details of his new role.
Freeman then laughed:
“I knew I was a big mouth, I didn’t know how much of a big mouth, and I’ve ruined everything. And now I might not have a job to go back to!”
Sherlock boss Steven Moffat has recently confirmed that he is only ‘loaning‘ Freeman to Jackson for his big screen venture.
