Sir Cliff Richard reveals all in BBC London 94.9FM Radio Series

This year Sir Cliff Richard celebrates 50 years in show business and BBC London 94.9FM will broadcast an exclusive series of five one-hour specials commemorating his career.

Each show will cover a decade and will explore the pop legend’s career with other nostalgia from that time.

This will be Cliff’s only in-depth radio interview about his life since the recent publication of his book My Life, My Way.

Presented by Cliff’s long-term friend, Gloria Hunniford, these special programmes will begin on Saturday 13 September 2008 and run on five consecutive Saturdays concluding with a live phone-in on Sunday 12 October when listeners will be able to put their questions direct to Sir Cliff from noon to 2pm.

In the programmes Sir Cliff discusses the possibility of a Shadows reunion: “We’ve been talking a long time and it’s looking better and better and I’ve got my fingers crossed.

“If this comes off it won’t be until the end of 2009… and I’m convinced it will be a big event because The Shadows and I are not likely to perform again.

“If we get together, if we can make this work, Hank’s got to come from Australia and we’ve all got to get our heads right around it… but if we can do it, I’m sure it’ll be a great success.

“I want to do it desperately and no one has actually said that we shouldn’t!”

And he speaks openly and intimately about past relationships, including that with TV presenter Sue Barker.

“I really thought this is probably my last chance and she is a fabulous girl, really a fantastic girl,” he says.

“But then in the end I had to say to myself that I don’t think that our love, for me, was not the same as I would have liked it to have been and we broke up amicably.”

Tune into BBC London 94.9FM for the first programme covering where it all began back in the Fifties on Saturday 13 September at 1.00pm.
