Sir Trevor McDonald is to turn his hand to comedy in a new stairical series on ITV1.

The show will be called News Knight and a spokesperson said: “This is not a quiz or panel show, but a comedy series that allows viewers to take a side-wards visual and humorous observational look at the week’s headlines.”

Sir Trevor will be joined by comedian Marcus Brigstocke leading one team, while the other captain is yet to be announced.

Sir Trevor says: “I’m looking forward to hosting this show as it will give me the chance to approach the news headlines from another perspective.

“I’ve been a part of the news at ITV for over 30 years now and this new show will let me show viewers another side to my personality. I have a great team on board and I’m particularly excited about working with Marcus.”
