Sirens axed by Channel 4
New comedy Sirens has been axed by Channel 4 after just one series.
The show, which starred Rhys Thomas alongside Richard Madden and Facejacker’s Kayvan Novak, was about an ambulance crew of paramedics.
Thomas broke the news via Twitter, where he wrote, “To all of those people asking about Sirens, sadly Channel 4 have not recommissioned series 2.
“So that’s your lot I’m afraid.”
However, he defended the broadcaster after criticism from his followers, and said that ending shows early was “not always a bad thing.”
He said, “There was only one Singing Detective and one Boys From The Black Stuff.
“At least it never got a chance to go downhill.”
A Channel 4 spokesman told Broadcast, “Sirens was commissioned as part of an exciting new crop of dramas for C4 in 2011.
“We were delighted with the finished show and the fact it consistently engaged with a loyal 16-34 audience, but there are currently no plans for a second run.”
