Channel 4 teen drama Skins is being remade for the American audience.

MTV have revealed that they plan to develop the series, using teenagers to write the scripts and casting unknown actors in the roles. The channel said it secured the rights to the show after two years of “intense competition”.

The show will be set in Baltimore, Maryland, which should hopefully give it a more gritty edge over the typical teen shows set in New York or LA.

The fourth series of the UK version is currently in production.
