Sky One To Air ‘AT HOME WITH THE HATTONS’

Sky One has commissioned Mentorn Media to produce At Home With The Hattons – two documentaries taking viewers behind closed doors to show what life is like for Ricky Hatton and family as he prepares for his homecoming fight against Juan Lazcano at the City of Manchester Stadium on May 24th.

The documentary, to be broadcast in the days leading up to the fight, will chart both home life and Ricky’s training regime as he prepares to defend his IBO Light Welterweight title. Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton’s 2007 fight against Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas made the world sit up and pay attention to the dry, fast-taking fighter packing as many punch-lines as punches. And his fiercely loyal, no-nonsense, family came out in force to support their boy. Now The Hattons are inviting the cameras into their homes.

Alongside Ricky, the documentaries will feature his mild-mannered, ex-pro footballer father, Ray, his formidable mother, Carol, whose acerbic put-downs offer no mercy and younger brother and fellow boxer, Matthew,

The second film will provide an update to ‘The Homecoming’ story in a re-versioned 1 x 60’ documentary screened in the week following the fight. It will feature additional footage following the fighter as he either celebrates or commiserates with the rest of Team Hatton and his hometown support.

Ricky Hatton, said: “For my homecoming fight and in this series for Sky, I want to give something back to my fans. Their support in Vegas left me speechless. I’m Mancunian born and bred and feel I’m no different to the man in the crowd, so it’s nice to reward them. By going behind the scenes during my training in the build up to fighting Juan Lazcano, they’ll get to see a bit more about the people who made me what I am today - my family.”

Donna Taberer, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment, Sky One, Two and Three commented: “The Hattons have established themselves in the hearts of all Brits and these documentaries will provide an hilarious and emotional insight into their lives outside the ring as the nation prepares to be gripped by Hatton fever once again.”

Mentorn Media’s Chief Executive, John Willis, said: “We are delighted that we’ve been commissioned to make these films about one of Britain’s greatest sporting icons and his fantastic family. They are already hugely popular figures and this unique insight will only endear the Hattons further to the British public.”
