Who will fall at the final hurdle, as So You Think You Can Dance arrives at the live Semi Finals?!
With each dancer voted for as an individual, it was each to their own in the war on the floor. After performing in new partnerships, boys and girls groups, sizzling solos and two whole group routines, only one boy and one girl would gain safe passage to next week’s live Grand Final, with the other two battling it out for the judges vote. The four dancers who had received the least number of public votes and had to dance for their lives, were Lee B, Luke, Bethany Rose and Katie.
After dancing for their lives in 30 second solos, Head Judge Nigel said to the girls Katie and Bethany Rose, “I won’t make any bones about this. I would say that you two are the two that I would have liked to have seen in the final. But, Britain has voted – and made their decision. It’s not Britain’s ‘best’ dancer, it’s Britain’s ‘favourite’ dancer. We have to take Britain’s vote into account here. Katie, you know how I feel about Bethany. She’s absolutely fabulous. But tonight I have changed my vote, and tonight Bethany you will be leaving us.”
And to the two boys, Lee B & Luke, he said “As judges we are unanimous with this decision, not because we’re letting somebody go that’s bad, but because we have to let somebody go. You’re both unique dancers, we love you both. So, the guy leaving us tonight is… Lee B”
Reflecting back on the results of tonight’s show, a clearly emotional Bethany Rose stated “I think everyone knows how strongly I felt about this competition, and you’ve really given me my dreams come true, so thank you. Most of all, thank you to my family – you’ve been so supportive… ever since I was tiny”
And for Lee B, “You know… I came on this competition to show that you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. And I hope that’s what I’ve done”
Next week’s live Grand Finale will be broadcast at 7.15pm, with the results show at 10.00pm, and will feature a performance from international superstar Jennifer Lopez singing her number one smash hit On The Floor! The four dancers battling it out to be named Britain’s Favourite Dancer, to win the £50,000 prize money, and to get the chance to dance on the American So You Think You Can Dance are: Katie Love, Kirsty Swain, Luke Jackson and Matt Flint.
The live results show also featured a spectacular performance from Glee’s Mr Scheuster himself – Matthew Morrison – with a track from his new album, Still Got Tonight. This week’s show featured two ensemble performances, the first choreographed by Karen Bruce to Yes by Merry Clayton, and the second was a swinging 60s inspired number to the Glee cast recording of Proud Mary, choreographed by Bill Deamer.
